About Educare
 

Educare was founded in 1991 by Sherry Kirksey and Genevieve Snipes and was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit for the purpose of providing professional assistance to individuals and groups. The corporation was initially formed for educational and scientific purposes, including but not limited to the establishment and operation of child care centers for consultation and training of personnel for child care providers, development of training materials for child care curricula and establishment and operation of child development centers.

Our most challenging agreement began in January 1992 when Educare was awarded the contract to manage an on-site childcare center at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Since 1992 the Child Educare Center (CEC) has expanded from one classroom to five, with over 100 square feet per child, and with adequate office and storage space, a luxury for most childcare centers. The CEC now provides services for approximately 62 families.

In 2001 Educare moved from management to consultant for the CEC. Educare employees continue to administer training for childcare providers. Workshops and speaking engagements in related fields such as parenting, communication and conflict resolution are offered for industry as well as church-sponsored retreats.

Educare further expanded its services in 2002 to provide faith-based counseling, conflict coaching and conciliation/mediation services. An Advisory Board of five members was also added to complete the organizational structure of Educare.

The staff consists of trained and experienced professionals who are committed to continuing education to update skills and knowledge in their field. Educare attempts to reach out to anyone who asks for our help, either through personal interaction with our staff or by referral to other helping individuals or agencies that can provide what is needed.
